Here's the kombucha recipe that Suzette used on Facebook Live  (July 8, 2020)

Ingredients:

  • 4 black tea bags
  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • 2 quarts of filtered water (1 qt to brew tea; 1 qt water to add to tea once brewed)
  • 1 mother scoby

Directions:

  1. Brew one quart of filtered water with 4 black tea bags (heat on stove top)
  2. Add ½ cup coconut sugar to brewed tea
  3. Add additional quart of filtered water to tea mixture
  4. Pour tea mixture into a glass vessel (use a 2 quart or 1 gallon mason jar)
  5. Add mother scoby to tea mixture
  6. Cover glass vessel with a small-weave fabric and wrap a rubberband around the fabric to hold in place
  7. Sit in dark corner for 3-7 days (the warmer the temperature, the faster it will brew)
  8. Store in refrigerator and enjoy!

OR for a Second Ferment (optional)

  1. You may add another sugar source to kombucha (for example, a piece of fruit or 1 Tbs of honey or sugar for every 16 ozs of kombucha)
  2. Set on counter for an additional 2 days
  3. Store in refrigerator and enjoy!

CAUTION:  DO NOT let glass bottles over-ferment on 2nd fermentation process – bottles may shatter.
